Karen Morris (Johnson)

Karen Morris Johnston July 8, 1944 — August 23, 2022 Woods Cross, Utah Karen M. Johnston, 78, of Woods Cross, passed away August 23, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Faye Morris, and husband Kenneth Johnston. She is survived by her children, Kent Johnston, Kaylyn (Scott) Mallet, Kasha (Tyler) Cook; five grandchildren: Tiffani (Tavaras) Pearson, Shantae (Jordan) Williamson, Davis Johnston, Dylan Naylor, Jaden Mallet; and five great-grandchildren. Her devotion to the LDS Church and her love of music served her well throughout her life. She held a church calling as the Ward Music Director for nearly 25 years. Although she had many callings throughout her life, her most important callings called her MOM and Nana. Mom’s contagious laugh and smile could brighten any room. She would often tell us stories about about her childhood, and if you listened closely there was always a little nugget of wisdom to be found. She was giving to all who knew her. She was there to cry with, laugh with and share a moment. Growing up in the small town of Portage, Utah, she was afforded many opportunities throughout her life. She played softball, the piano and loved to sing. Her career with Mountain Bell/Qwest included updating the LDS ward listings and a brief stint in management. While in management she had the opportunity to move to Denver, Colorado. In Denver she met the love of her life, Ken (aka Turtle). They wed shortly after and were married for 49 years. She will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
