Barbara Udy (Vanderhoof)

Barbara Udy (Vanderhoof)

Barbara Vanderhoof, 79, passed away at her home in Plymouth, Thursday morning, January 25th 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. She was first-born to Delose and Phyllis Udy March 22, 1944 in Brigham City. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Vanderhoof, March 20, 1964. They lived primarily in Plymouth, Utah raising three children, Lance, Paige and Layne. We still argue about who was her favorite, but was quick to add to each in private that we were the one.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to all that knew her. Mom worked as the secretary at Fielding Elementary School from 1977 to 2005. There, mom was the quasi principal, coach, therapist, nurse, and would “rip your lips off” when kids were mischievous. Most important, she was mom to thousands because they were all “her kids.” You could not travel anywhere without running into someone who was one of her kids.

Mom was a devoted resident of Plymouth where she served as Mayor and was an EMT with the fire department. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was involved in many callings, her favorite, guiding the young women. She enjoyed traveling with Dad, especially drives to observe the fall leaves. She was an avid reader but mostly enjoyed her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband Donald Vanderhoof, children Lance (Sheri) Vanderhoof, Paige Thompson (Dan Johnson), Layne (Jamie) Vanderhoof, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Kip Thompson and grandson Josh Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the Plymouth/Belmont LDS Church (16925 N 5200 W, Garland). Viewings will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 5-7 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) and prior to the service at the church from 9-10:30 A.M.
