Jeri Oyler (Newman)

Jeri Oyler (Newman)

June 13, 1944 - April 10, 2018
Our hearts are saddened with the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt Geraldine (Jeri) Oyler Newman. She passed away in her home on April 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after battling with dementia. Jeri was born in Tremonton, Utah on June 13, 1944 to Reid and Marjorie Oyler. She was one of four children.
Jeri graduated from Bear River High School; from there she attended Utah State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She married her high school sweetheart, and the love of her life, Darrel Newman on September 9, 1965 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. Together they have seven children and twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild due in June.
Jeri was a devoted wife and mother who took great care of those she loved dearly. Jeri spent a wonderful twenty-five years with KUED as an administrative assistant. When people remember Jeri they say she was the "Life of the Party, and a very beautiful, classy lady." Some of Jeri's favorite times included: traveling, cooking, (dipping chocolates with her sister, daughters, nieces, and good friends), gardening, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, close friends, and of course, shopping, shopping and more shopping. Jeri's infectious personality, love of life, and never-ending energy made her so loveable.
Jeri was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served as Relief Society President, Young Women President (with Darrel as her counselor), and worked in the Primary Organization in the Monument Park First Ward. Her most recent callings were serving with her husband as ward missionaries and serving in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples. This brought her much joy as she served the Lord and those around her.
Jeri was proceeded in death by her parents Reid and Marjorie Oyler and her niece Alisha Udy. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, and eternal companion, Darrel, and their children: Lisa Fuller(Brian), Laurel Price(Daryl), Allyson Ford(Brett), Megan Newman, John Newman(Jaime), Emily Grant(Mike), and Geoff Newman(Megan) Jeri is also survived by her twenty grandchildren, three siblings: Julie Udy (Dean), John Oyler (Shauna), and Janine Swan(Ike) and nieces and nephews who adored her.
We as her children would like to express our love and appreciation to our loving father who was so tender to our mother and showered her with love, care and patience. He has been a strength to each of us. We love you Dad!
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 14,2018 at 12:00 pm at the Monument Park LDS Chapel. 2000 East Michigan Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah.

Our sincere condolences to Darrel & the rest of his family. Remembering growing up & the group of kids around the Oyler neighborhood. Lots of great times. We ran into Darrel & Jeri at the Davis Co. Fair last August , Darrel had Jeri by the arm & was taking great care of her.

I feel sad about hearing of  Jerri"s passing.  Jerri was always such a friendly person, she was a friend to everyone.  When we were going to Utah State Jerri used to hitch a ride with me to come back to Tremonton.

Wish well for the family ................. Terry

The service for Jeri was so perfect....her family did an amazing memorial to her. Her siblings told many memories of her that really touched my heart ,and brought so many fond thoughts of our friendship. Jeri and I had so many fun times together. Too many to mention....some better not to be mentioned. I loved my times with Jeri .Darrel,. your children are great....two handsome sons and five beautiful daughters that are the image of Jeri. My best wishes,  and prayers for you and family in the days ahead.

So sorry to hear of Jeri's passing away. Its hard to see our classmates dwindle away. I, too, remember Jeri as always smiling and enjoying life. She was always kind and friendly to me. She may be gone, but she'll always remain in our hearts.
