Boyd Firth

Boyd P Firth, 59, of Tremonton, died in the early hours of Sunday, January 26, 2003, of a sudden heart attack. He will be greatly missed by loving family and friends.

Born December 14, 1943, to Dean and Winnie Firth, Boyd grew up in Bothwell. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1962 and attended Utah State University. He married Kaye Waldron in the Salt Lake Temple on August 23, 1966. They lived in Tremonton for eight years, then built their family home in East Tremonton where they have lived for 25 years. Together they raised six children. Boyd was well-pleased by the fact that all of his children and their spouses are graduates of Utah State University and that all of his children have followed his example in service to the Lord.

Boyd was employed as a material analyst at ATK Thiokol for 24 years. Prior to that he worked as the parts manager for Crump-Wheatley GMC dealership. He volunteered as coordinator of the commercial exhibits for the Box Elder County Fair for several years. He made many wonderful friends during his career.

Boyd loved woodworking and served as president of the Utah Woodturner’s Association. He appreciated fine workmanship and put his best into all of his work. He loved to find projects he could make and give to family and friends.

Boyd treasured his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the North British Mission from 1963 - 1965. This was a source of cherished lifelong memories for him. His service also included many years as a stake clerk, counselor in three bishoprics, High Priest Group Leader, and Primary teacher. He most recently served as ward and stake family history coordinator. He enjoyed all of his callings, and was particularly grateful for the friendships he made.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye Waldron Firth, and their six children: Jill (Brian) Edwards of Pleasant Grove, Tammy Firth of Logan, Sharon (Jason) Mumford of Clinton, Matthew (Judith Johnson) Firth of Perry, Suzanne (Marc) Nielson of Boise, Idaho, and Jennie Firth of Logan. He is also survived by three brothers, Brent (Janet), twin brother Lloyd (Waylene), and Curtis (Sheryl), one sister, Deann Firth and his parents-in-law Virgil and Margaret Waldron.

Boyd and Kaye are also the grandparents of ten grandchildren with one on the way. Boyd loved all of his children, grandchildren and extended family and took great pleasure in spending time with them. He was always concerned about others and would call frequently to check-up on family and friends.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Winnie Firth and his nephew Nathan Firth.
